EXISTING legislation in dealing with complaints about noisy neighbours is inadequate and needs reappraisal.
The fact that City of York Council received 800 complaints about noisy neighbours in 2002 (August 27) shows the extent of this problem.
Simply recording sound levels from noisy neighbours is pointless. We all have different acceptable noise levels, and the decisive factor is whether it is causing a nuisance to that complainant.
