SUN Inn (Acomb) captured the York Unique-Phoenix League division one title with an awesome display of finishing against Acomb SC.

Leading 3-0 after the team and pairs games, Dave Gibbons maintained Sun's unbeaten record with a brace of 18 darters which included a 122 bull finish. Then Kev Walton gamed on 112 for 21 before slotting in a 109 finish for 21 as Sun pushed for the clean sweep.

Superb 15 and 17 dart legs from skipper Chris Thompson followed and Tony Cooper's convincing 20 and 15 darters capped a brilliant all round performance.

At the opposite end of the table, Rose and Crown had Scott Dowsett clinching the win against fellow strugglers Cygnet 'B'. Rose and Crown now have to gain one point more than Bishopthorpe to avoid the drop.

Dave Binks was in outstanding form for Mitre 'A' in their match at Slipper. He went a leg behind after Barry Noble closed in 16, but levelled then produced a splendid 17-darter to put Mitre 3-1 up. Mitre sealed the win with John Quantock including a maximum for 18 darts.

Clifton were coasting at 3-0 up, then Martyn Turner recorded a fine 16-darter only for Arthur Conyers to hit back in 20 then add a 129 finish for 18 darts. John Holmes (20) took the win for Clifton while Bishopthorpe's other point came from Tony Raymond (21).

In division two, Blacksmith's took advantage of the top two not playing to keep the pressure on with a win against Lord Nelson. John Spence (94 finish) levelled for Lord Nelson, only for Keith Elliott to restore Blacksmiths lead. Captain Dan Tait sealed the win to put his team two points behind Alice Hawthorne.

Entries for the winter season must be in by next Monday.
