Huntington Rovers let two points slip as they failed to finish off a resolute Rufforth United in the premier division of Leeper Hare York and District League last night.

Paul Downes gave Rovers the lead after five minutes with a crisp volley, but although they enjoyed more possession they failed to create clear chances and found Rufforth goalkeeper Chris Maude in fine form despite him having an ankle injury.

Rufforth pressed forward looking for an equaliser, which came with 15 minutes remaining when Kevin Gaynor lobbed the ball over the goalkeeper from an acute angle.

With both defences dominating, the game petered out to a 1-1 stalemate.

Wigginton Black Horse thrashed a demoralised Dunnington side 9-1, with seven of the goals coming in the first half.

Simon Fisher (2), Jamie Seal, Anthony Luck (2) and Adam Wash (2) scored in the first half.

Dunnington regrouped at half-time and managed to stem the flow of goals, limiting the home side to two more from Luck. Andy Rose scored a consolation goal for Dunnington with ten minutes remaining.
