CHAIRMAN BOBBY, a model of consistency this season, can get back on the winning trail at Redcar tomorrow.

Trained at Scorton in North Yorkshire by David Barker, the sprinter is fancied to show his rivals a clean pair of heels in the Tote Exacta Handicap over six furlongs.

Chairman Bobby rattled up a hat-trick of wins earlier in the season and has proved admirably consistent since, stacking up a whole sequence of placed efforts.

Last time out, at Beverley, the five-year-old finished third to Viewforth over five furlongs.

The step up to six furlongs tomorrow will suit Chairman Bobby, who can show his rivals the way home in the hands of apprentice jockey Lee Enstone.

Wanchai Lad, who last week at Ripon provided Kevin Darley with his 100th winner of the season, will again have the assistance of the Sheriff Hutton-based jockey when he reappears in the Cockle Novice Auction Stakes.

Well-backed at Ripon on his debut, Wanchai Lad showed a good attitude in making a winning bow and looks a decent prospect in the making.

Best Port is overdue a winning turn and opportunity could come knocking for John Parkes' stayer in the Federation of Small Businesses Teesside Branch Handicap over one and threequarter miles.

In the frame in his last three races, Best Port is a previous winner over this course and distance. Ian Mongan has the task of guiding him home tomorrow.

At Carlisle, Smith N Allan Oils makes plenty of appeal in the Willy Holme Handicap.

Joe Fanning's mount has finished runner-up on his last three starts and was unlucky to bump into the gambled-on Hills Of Gold, a winner again since, at Beverley on his latest outing.

Princes Theatre should take all the beating in the Armstrong Watson Corporate Handicap.

A winner last time out at Newcastle, Princes Theatre has since moved from trainer Gerry Kelly to his neighbour Mick Easterby. Lightly-raced this season, the gelding has more to offer.

My Nap vote is awarded to Willjojo in the Border Construction Nursery over six furlongs.

Richard Fahey's charge shaped well enough at Thirsk last time to suggest a race of this nature is within her grasp.

Ellway Heights should make a bold bid in the Battle Holme Handicap.

Mark Brisbourne's gelding got back in winning form at Hamilton earlier this week and is expected to follow up here in a race in which he escapes a penalty.

The principal race on Thirsk's seven-race programme on Saturday is the Tote Scoop6 Hambleton Cup.

A £10,000 Handicap contest over one mile and a half, the longest race of the afternoon, the Hambleton Cup is one of the oldest races in the British racing calendar, dating back to 1714.

Racing on Saturday begins at 2.20pm.
