THE teenager who came to York after being convicted of abusing a seven-year-old girl in Scotland is the subject of new allegations from a second girl.

Ashley Boyd is being investigated by Dumfries and Galloway Police after a 14-year-old girl came forward with claims against the 16-year-old boy, who is now living in Huntington.

Child protection officers confirmed that an investigation was under way into a complaint.

Boyd was sentenced to three years probation and 240 hours community service at Stranraer Sheriff's Court on Monday after he admitted using lewd, indecent and libidinous practices and behaviour against the seven-year-old.

His family moved to York after they were allegedly the subject of death threats from residents in Newton Stewart, where he lived.

Billy Sturgeon, Dumfries and Galloway Police child protection team officer, said: "I can confirm that there is an investigation into an allegation made by a 14-year-old girl.

"That investigation will hopefully be concluded in the not too distant future."

In Scottish Law, the identities of offenders who are aged 16 and over can be published.

York police and the York Youth Offending Team have reassured city residents that Boyd was being monitored.

Police officers in the city have stated that they did not consider Boyd a community risk.
