New Earswick All Blacks ARLC's annual gala and rugby festival saw an incredible turnout with more than 420 children from all over Yorkshire taking part.

Seven tournaments were held in six different age groups, from emerging 8s, and under-8s, through 9s, 10s, 11s, 12 and under-13s, all at New Earswick's home ground on White Rose Avenue.

In the emerging 8s, Normanton came out on top after All Blacks, Featherstone, Lock Lane and Stanningley gave fantastic performances in nail-biting games.

The under-8s finished with the top award again going to Normanton, though outstanding team work from All Blacks, Featherstone Lions, Heworth, Halfacre and Stanningley kept the scores close.

Featherstone were the top team in the under-9's although All Blacks, Normanton, Acorn and Lock Lane made it difficult for the West Yorkshire side.

Kippax were the winning team in the under-10s with Featherstone, New Earswick and Ossett Trinity making sure the scores were close.

Featherstone also shone in their under-11s, though maximum effort was given by All Blacks, Selby Warriors, Normanton and Stanningley.

The team from Stanningley received the under-12s trophy with New Earswick, Featherstone, Headingley Hawks and Parkside having also played well.

New Earswick All Blacks would like to give thanks to the Yorkshire teams that took part in what was a fantastic gala. The club would also like to encourage any youngsters wishing to take part in rugby to contact them, tel 01904 750103.
