THIS is whiplash rock'n'roll, say American-fixated Danish duo Sune Rose Wagner and Sharin Foo on their B-movie spoof sleeve.

After eight mean, lean and menacing tracks in 21 minutes on last year's mini-album debut Whip It On, they speed through 13 more in half an hour: just the way rubber-burning pop used to be. Last time everything was recorded in B flat minor, as Wagner soaked up New York's red light district and Beat generation writers for downbeat inspiration. This time, B flat major is all the rage, a traditionally more upbeat blast of guitar pop, typified by new single That Great Love Sound. The Raveonettes address the volatile thrills and spills of love in raw, three-minute dramas that echo not only Buddy 'Rave On' Holly and Phil Spector's girl group The Ronettes but also Beach Boys harmonies and Velvet Underground drums for a boy-girl variation on the Jesus And Mary Chain's Psychocandy. Fuzzy and fruity, slinky and sleazy, short and bittersweet, Chain Gang Of Love is devilishly, Danishly decadent.
