Having witnessed a fantastic team display of determination and commitment by the York City Knights on Sunday, I must congratulate all 17 players for their efforts.

The match itself was a superb advert for National League Two. Any neutrals attending must have been impressed with the whole experience at Huntington Stadium.

The team has already exceeded the expectations of a newly-formed club but for all the hard work to be rewarded by a chance in the play-offs is well deserved.

The players and all those concerned with the club will now be focusing their efforts on the final league game on Friday night against Hunslet. As we get nearer to the play-offs, now is the time to increase your support. Cheer on the lads, have some fun and be a part of 'York City Knights'.

Can I also take this opportunity to thank everyone who has so far contributed to the Academy Builder initiative run by York Rugby League Supporters' Club. Leaflets outlining the aims of Academy Builder have recently been distributed at home games.

Anyone wishing to donate can do so by standing order or by bank credit (send sae to the Knights' address for sign-up form and information leaflet) or by making cheques payable to Academy Builder and posting to: York Rugby League Supporters' Club, c/o York City Knights RLFC, Huntington Stadium, Kathryn Avenue, Huntington, York, YO32 9JS.

I JUST wanted to say a big thank you to York City Knights for what can only be described as one of the best games of rugby at Huntington Stadium for a long time.

What a first birthday present for the club. Everybody there was treated to excitement out of the top drawer - and for this we must thank both teams.

The Knights worked really hard as a team for that win and they deserved the rapturous applause from the fans at the end. Everybody was absolutely over the moon. This was thrilling, nail-biting, tireless work, in fact, everything that goes in to a good, hard game of rugby league of the highest order.

To those of you who didn't get to the game, what a classic you missed.

These lads worked really hard for their play-off place, not only for themselves and the club, but also for us supporters.

So all I can say is everybody get themselves there on Friday night against Hunslet and continue the support.

Theresa Close,
