The Hamsters had a three-track session on Paul Jones's Blues Show on BBC Radio 2 last night in the lead-up to the autumn release of their new album, Open All Hours.

On Saturday (7th), they are doing a "two-set special one-off" for York, at Fibbers.

"We don't do many of these shows," say the blues rockers. "For a change, instead of being ourselves, we're going to play two full sets of Jimi Hendrix and ZZ Top songs.

In their 16th year, The Hamsters are on course to play their 3,250th show, and this summer they released a concert DVD with the waggish title of To Infirmity And Beyond.

York's nine-piece electro-rage cartel, Endgunn, play Fibbers tonight, having completed their first album with the demos now circulating among industry big wigs. Led by Cognac graduate Matt Southall, with ex-Tung MC Dave Jr and prodigy Deepak at the mixing desk, they stir up a melting pot of hip hop, electro, industrial and acid house. Tonight's show is their first club night, supported by Random Number.

On Monday, Watford's bubblegum-thrash pop punks Captain Everything! drive at 100mph through songs from their new album It's Not Rocket Science. Fibbers boss Tim Hornsby says: "They're a dirty little punk rock secret people hold close their hearts."

Meanwhile, Tim's pick of the week is Kid Symphony on Tuesday - once young Leeds melodic punks Cube. "Three years on and lots of time in New York later, founders Chris Langdon and Pete Denton, aka Kid Symphony, are the new glimmer twins of pop dazzle, here to deliver hyper-melodic rock as pure, elevating magic," says Tim. "This band is going to be huge."
