YORK City Knights star Trevor Krause has regained his place in the National League Two team of the month.

The amiable Aussie was the first Knights player to be selected for trade magazine Rugby League World's form-team when he was named the best hooker back in April. His latest award sees him named best loose-forward in August.

Darren Callaghan and scrum-half Danny Brough made the shortlist this month with Callaghan named third-best second-row and Brough third-best scrum-half.

The top player award went to Chorley stand-off Mick Coates. His club, beaten by the Knights last weekend, had three players named in the team, while Hunslet, who visited York last night, had four.

The full team was: 1 Matt Foster (Keighley), 2 Eric Andrews (Chorley), 3 Jamie Stenhouse (Chorley), 4 Jason Roach (Swinton), 5 Bryn Powell (Hunslet), 6 Mick Coates (Chorley), 7 Phil Hasty (Hunslet), 8 Steve Pryce (Hunslet), 9 Jamiane Wray (Hunslet), 10 Jon Bruce (Sheffield), 11 James King (Barrow), 12 Gareth Dean (Workington), 13 Trevor Krause (Knights).

Other Knights players to have made it into team-of-the-month selections are Neil Law (May, June, July), Lee Jackson (June), Chris Smith (June), Craig Forsyth (July), Danny Brough (June, July) and Scott Rhodes (July), the latter two taking divisional player-of-the-month awards.

WING duo Alex Godfrey and Rob Kama attended an event in aid of Headway, a York-based North Yorkshire charity which helps people who have suffered brain injuries and their families and carers.

The fundraising fate, at New Earswick Folk Hall, was organised by Headway fund-raiser Dot Brosenitz, whose husband, Michael Brosenitz, is a former Bradford Northern player who suffered a non-rugby related head injury about five years ago.

Dot was delighted with the Knights' contribution, which helped to up the funds raised to £530. "They were very good," she said. "They gave us a signed shirt and three mini-rugby balls for a raffle and we're very grateful."
