HOW many times have we heard that York officials are to get tough on rowdies? (York Streets chief to get tough, September 1).
Longer hours on opening of public houses doesn't help. Those who get tanked-up and end up on the streets become a danger to all they come into contact with.
With the dark nights approaching, people end up becoming prisoners in their own home - especially the elderly as they tend to have no confidence in going out for fear of an encounter with someone drunk and aggressive.
I'm sure many of us feel the latest crackdown is just words. It's action that is needed.
