IF anyone wonders whether dress codes are strict now, why not take a gander at the way swings were back at Fulford Golf Club.
Four dapper die-hards of the game stand in admiration as an associate, equally sartorially stuffed, drives into the distance. But does anybody out there now know who these hearty five-wood fellows were?
The mystery photograph forms part of a project aimed at celebrating Fulford GC's centenary in 2006. As part of the centenary celebrations a history book is being compiled and officials at the club would dearly love to identify some, if not all, of the pictured urbane club-wielders.
The club would also like any anecdotal stories, laced either with humour or drama, from the last 97 years of play whether from its original base at Water Fulford from 1906 to 1935 and from then on to its present day at its Heslington Lane headquarters.
Anyone with information regarding the snap from the past or tales from the bunker, fairways, greens and beyond over the last 97 years, are asked to contact club secretary Ian Mackland tel York (01904) 438273.
