TWO goals in extra time gave Clifton Rangers a 4-2 win over Huntington Juniors in the York FA Sunday Afternoon Cup.

Huntington took the lead after 20 minutes when Danny Temple shot in from the edge of the penalty area. But by half-time Clifton were on level terms with a goal from Matt Smart.

Both sides had scoring chances in the second half and with 15 minutes of normal time remaining Martin Hewitson scored for Clifton with a close-range shot.

After ten minutes of added time Huntington equalised when Jamie Nicholson lobbed the ball over the stranded Clifton goalkeeper to force the tie into extra time.

With the game about to go into a penalty shoot-out, Smart and Matt Varley, with a spectacular solo goal, clinched victory for Clifton Rangers.

Puss 'n Boots struggled against newcomers Cedarwood before winning 4-2 with two goals from Bradley Dunn and one each from Gavin Witty and Tony Brown.

Drum led 2-0 at half-time against Rawcliffe United, both goals coming from Chris Groom.

But in the second half the Drum players appeared to tire and Rawcliffe took full advantage with goals from Adey Wood, Michael Martin and Paul Coupe to run out worthy 3-2 victors.

Chris Burton shot into the bottom right-hand corner of the net to give Black Dog an early lead against Woodthorpe Warriors.

Further goals followed from Chris Pearson 2, Paul Fenton, Andrew Whittaker and Will Nicholson for Black Bull to win 6-1.
