York Acorn ARL Under-15s opened their league campaign with a 26-10 win at Toll Bar, Doncaster.
Mathew Gray and Joe Budd scored early tries before Oliver Powell stretched Acorn's lead to 14-0, Lee Spain having converted one of the tries.
Toll Bar scored a converted try but Mark Gover went over in the corner for Acorn before the home side hit back with a score.
Prop Chris Richardson then received the ball on the halfway line, handed off two defenders and raced into the corner. Dean Wardell sealed victory with a try near the end. Richardson and Wardell shared the man of the match award.
York Acorn Under-14s scored an excellent 28-24 win at Castleford Panthers.
Adam Jones powered over, Steve Doswell picked up a good Ross Varley kick to cross, and Dave Leeke also broke through, Varley adding three conversions for an 18-6 half-time lead.
Adam Jones scored from a rehearsed move, but Panthers scored three second-half tries to lead 24-22 before Leeke produced a power play to score the winner, Varley goaling. Resiliant defence then kept Panthers at bay.
Graham Musgrove, Oliver Harrison, Doswell, Jones, Leeke, Danny Birkitt and top man Liam Smith were outstanding.
