FREE burgers and chips, and a trip to the cinema! (Evening Press, October 2). That's obviously the answer to our teenage thugs, treat 'em with kid gloves.
The 14-year-old youth who vowed to continue his crime spree and be in prison by the time he's 16 - good, but let's make sure that he gets treated in such a way he will never dare to re-offend.
But we all know that will never happen, because the courts are too lenient, and the Government does nothing but sit on its hands, hoping the problem will go away.
It won't, we should have correction centres run by ex-military personnel, with no comforts or special privileges such as colour television or pool tables. Make them work and show some responsibility.
They say that the youngsters of today are the citizens of tomorrow. If that's the case, God help us all.
