WILL it take a major accident to get people to slow down on the A19 between York and Selby?
I have been commuting down this road for the past two years and believe that it is fast becoming an accident blackspot.
There have been at least three crashes in the past two weeks near the Barlby junction, plus the recent tragic accident.
People drive at speeds of 70-80 mph right behind other cars, looking for the opportunity to overtake. Oncoming traffic is seen as a challenge, not a hindrance.
It is becoming extremely dangerous and I hope that speed cameras and other road safety measures can be introduced soon, before more people die.
