AMONG the books on sale to bibliophiles at the recent PBFA Book Fair at the Barbican Centre in York was a fine copy of Nelson Mandela's Long Walk To Freedom for £600.
Also on sale were a number of children's books about golliwogs and, on prominent display, a copy of The Little Niggers, boldly illustrated on the cover with caricatures of black children.
An exhibitor with whom I raised the matter considered it to be simply a matter of political correctness.
So that's all right then. I might have thought that it was more than the books that were antiquarian.
