FRED Durst doesn't know who he wants to be any more.
Unnerved by the nu-metal meltdown, Results May Vary finds him clamouring for a new audience and fighting to keep his old one.
Four songs in and you wouldn't know it. The testosterone-fuelled single Eat You Alive and rock rap Gimme The Mic are packed with blistering riffs and shouty choruses, while Almost Over continues his tradition of writing embarrassingly awful lyrics. So far, so Limp.
But in a blatant attempt to appeal to lighter-wavers the world over, the record includes tender ballads and poppy singalongs. Durst is a surprisingly good vocalist as demonstrated on the melancholy Drown, but will this new direction alienate die-hard fans? The songs are irritatingly infectious with enough angst to keep the moodiest teenagers frowning. Listen out for the brilliantly bad duet with Snoop Doggy Dogg, Red Light - Green Light.
