George Hudson Street in York has been described as a "nasty little street" (September 27).
George Hudson's alleged financial machinations are said to have been the reason for the abandonment of the planned direct railway line between Tadcaster and York.
Nevertheless, Hudson's memory lives on in the name of a very pleasant private-sector housing estate in our east parish. A fine example of compassion in this three-brewery town.
Mrs Ida Mary Goodrick,
Woodlands Avenue,
