MRS Reynolds is packed off half-way round the world on a quest to help the poor, with £5,000 in her suitcase, in Riding Lights Roughshod's newly devised play, The Fun Of The Fair.

Premiered next week at the Riding Lights headquarters of Friargate Theatre, Lower Friargate, in York, Paul Birch's new play sends Mrs Reynolds on a voyage that lands her at the door of a run-down bicycle repair shop in a dingy back street.

The bicycle mechanics spin a good yarn, whereupon Mrs Reynolds is drawn into a round of storytelling, meeting fellow travellers with lives of energy and enterprise, comedy and disaster. Through them she discovers the last stretch of her own astonishing journey.

Created in collaboration with the Christian relief and development agency World Vision, The Fun Of The Fair will open in York on October 14 and 15 before Bridget Foreman's production goes on the road from October 18 to December 6.

Tickets for the 7.30pm performances in York cost £7.50, concessions £5, on 0845 961 3000.
