RICH Corner hit a ton and two 140s for 14 darts to get Bay Horse 'A' off to a flying start in their York Phoenix Open League division one encounter with Phoenix.

Corner was well backed up by Paul Cooper with 17 darts and 18 darts from Dave O'Hara. Corner-O'Hara were last game match winners after Phoenix had levelled through Nick Harteveld-Mike Kearney.

Slipper had John Ward-Rob Platt combining to seal their win at Cygnet, while newcomers Leeman had Dean Smallwood out in 19 darts to inspire them to a 6-3 win against Huntington 'B'.

Mark Blundel (20) and Dave Basth hit the tons to lead Greyhound (Riccall) a convincing win against Pack, and Howden took full advantage of Volunteer's player shortage to take the points.

In division two, Barry Dick-Craig Gardner guided Three Cranes to victory against Woodman, while Jackdaw took all the pairs to wrap up the win at Ebor, whose Graham Hudson hit two 140s to save the aggregate point.

A fine 20-darter from Moira Atkinson inspired Woolpack to a narrow win against Crescent 'B'.

Division three Bishopthorpe recorded a last game win over Reindeer, and Ted Horsman was Indoor Bowls only winner as Yearsley had the match won within the singles. Locomotive steamed their way to a 7-2 win at Burton with Claire Grimley among the tons.

Winning Post have been replaced in division three by Mount.

John has plenty to Crowe about

JOHN Crowe shot an impressive 17-dart leg in York John Smith's Men's League division one.

That helped Dringhouses to the aggregate point against Clifton 'A' whose Martyn Turner led from the front in a 5-4 victory.

John Mooring (18 darts) and Dave Gibbons's 24-dart 701 led Cygnet 'A' to a 6-3 win over Bay Horse, whose Ron Simpson gamed in 20 in a match which contained 30 tons and over.

Heath Scaife (21), Mick Willsden, Chas Ramsden and Kev Walton starred as Shepherd crushed Slip 'B' 9-0. Ray McInally (18), Mark Gale (20) and Daz Hawcroft spearheaded Poacher in their 9-0 demolition of Flag 'A'.

Chris Thompson (180 for 21), Tony Cooper (21) joined together for a 23-dart last leg as Sun 'A' overwhelmed Blacksmith's 8-1 whose winner was Andy Turpin.

John Page (84 finish) overturned a fine win from Steve Snowden to inspire Saddle to a 5-4 victory at Green Tree 'B'.

Steve Machean (118 finish) helped keep Osbaldwick's unbeaten record in division two with a 6-3 win at Slip 'A'.

Alan Potter, needing 230, hit a 180 before Gary Stewart hit bull first dart as Holgate beat Green Tree 'A' 7-2.

Dave Dobson (19) and Geoff Bellermy (bull finish) set Flag 'B' on the way to 5-4 victory at Groves with Bellermy-Gordon Foster taking the decider.

Donna lords it over New York

DONNA Dwyer scored 100 for Lord Collingwood in their 6-1 win over New York 'A' in Division one of the York White Rose Ladies Darts League.

Coach and Horses beat New York 'B' 6-1 with 100s from Jill Clapham and Maggie Adamson. New York had 122 from Dot Haines, 119 from Dot Osborne and 100 from Denise Fahey.

Fulfordgate were also 6-1 winners, defeating Six Bells with Karen Reasbeck scoring 100.

Moira Atkinson took the decider for Fulford Conservatives over Crescent with Karen Conman scoring a ton. Milly Mountain and Lesley Benson recorded 100s for Crescent.

In Division Two, Debbie Horner's 100 and 126 in 22 darts could not stop Alice Hawthorn losing 4-3 to Winning Post whose Gloria Harrison scored 134.

Pat Dickinson fired 120 as King William 120 beat New Earswick Bowling Club 6-1.

Fox lost 6-1 to Acomb Bowling but had high scorers in Val Bell (108), Angie Cussons (103 in pairs and 100 in singles).

Lord Nelson 'B' beat Tankard 5-2 with Joan Cuss shooting 102 to finish in 24 darts.
