AS a resident of Malton for more than 15 years, I agree with your article about the A64 (October 6).
We travel to York on a regular basis and witness the need for upgrading the this road. There is a pressing need to reduce heavy traffic through Malton. There is no link road off the A64 for traffic heading to Helmsley so it winds its way past the cattle market and Middlecave Road.
This route is unsuitable for heavy traffic and a real danger to pedestrians, particularly during the school term.
Hopefully, in the not too distant future, the powers that be may consider these vital improvements.
