ST AELRED'S and Lakeside will represent York in the Cade Trophy North Yorkshire Six-A-Side Football finals.

They came out on top in the York finals at Woodthorpe School with St Aelred's amassing 15 points and runners-up Lakeside 12. Woodthorpe were third with seven points, followed by Bishopthorpe 5, English Martyrs four and St Wilfrid's none.

York City Schools Under-12s suffered a 5-0 defeat at Leeds on Saturday.

Four of the goals came in a first half when York were caught cold and Leeds completed an emphatic win late in the second period.

Under strength York Under-11 Schools suffered their first defeat of the season at the hands of Gateshead who emerged 5-1 winners in a friendly at York Sixth Form College.

York were missing six players who were involved in the Primary Schools' Cade Trophy finals.

York took the lead when Tom Richardson slotted home from close range but Gateshead hit back in spectacular fashion with four goals in the space of 15 minutes and added a fifth shortly before the end.

Adam Stelmach was York's man of the match with an accomplished display at right back. Oliver Bird caused Gateshead problems with his pace while Connor Qualter and Sam Byram continued to work hard in midfield.

There will be a training session on Saturday 25 at York Sixth Form at 9.30am.

York U11s next game is the rearranged West Yorkshire Cup tie against Hull on Wednesday, October 29, at York Sixth Form College (kick off 10.30am).

They are then in action at Spen Valley on Saturday, November 8, when all five City Boys' teams are due to play. The U12s entertain Spen Valley, the U13s are at Spen Valley while the U14s and U15s are both at Rotherham.

The first round ties in the Primary Cup competition must be completed by Friday. HOCKEY

HUNTINGTON School have won the York and District Under-16 Hockey tournament, beating Millthorpe, Fulford and All Saints and drawing with Bootham.

Three of the Huntington squad - Steph Pearson, Jess Barnes and Rebecca Raper, have also been selected for North Yorkshire Schools.
