Pat Eddery, who brings his 37-year career to a close at Doncaster on Saturday, can play a starring role on the Town Moor course tomorrow.

The 11-times champion jockey teams-up with Dusky Warbler in the Dovebid Auctioneers & Valuers Conditions Stakes and I fancy he can work the oracle on Michael Bell's charge, who is long overdue a winning turn.

Eddery, 51, rider of more than 4,500 winners including three Derbys, has enjoyed a memorable couple of months, receiving awards and presentations to mark the immense impact he has made on the sport. In Britain, only Sir Gordon Richards had more winners than Eddery.

Dusky Warbler presents the sort of challenge Eddery savours. The four-year-old has had a sequence of placed efforts this season but has still to win.

Eddery, who has a great knack of cajoling the best out of infrequent winners, can work his magic on Dusky Warbler in this mile-and-three-quarters test.

Tony Culhane, fast approaching his maiden century, will be keen to win on Makfool in the Tofield Solicitors Conditions Stakes.

Culhane, who left himself four short of his ton-up target when scoring on Malapropism at Musselburgh yesterday, has a terrible run on Makfool at Doncaster a fortnight ago when the two-year-old finished an unlucky fourth in the race won by Overdrawn.

Culhane and Makfool now get the chance of revenge on Overdrawn, who will be ridden by that man Eddery. It should be a fascinating encounter.

The Auker Rhodes Blue Parrot Gillies Fillies Stakes, a Listed event, looks within the compass of Alrabab, the mount of Alan Daly.

The three-year-old has hit a rich vein of form this autumn and is chasing a four-timer. Improving with every race, she can cope with this step up in class.

The Dransfield Novelty Company Handicap over five furlongs looks tricky, but Summer Lightning has won at Doncaster over tomorrow's distance.

Out of luck at Epsom last time when she met trouble in running, Ralph Beckett's filly is sportingly napped for score at a big price.

Carol Williams can clinch the lady jockeys' championship by winning the Bwd Rensburg Lady Riders' Championship Handicap on Del Mar Sunset.

Thoroughly consistent, if somewhat hard to win with, Del Mar Sunset, trained by William Haggas, looks sure to go well for his experienced pilot.

Runners are scarce over the sticks at Hexham tomorrow, which is a common problem at present because National Hunt trainers are reluctant to run their horses until the ground eases.

Two to note at the Northumberland venue are handicap chaser Tyndarius (12.35) and selling hurdler Nautical Star (2.20).
