York City Ladies FC will be seeking to return to winning ways when they entertain North Ferriby on Sunday in the Yorkshire and Humberside League premier division.

The City ranks go into the game deflated by a 3-1 defeat away to Bradford City WFC.

York started poorly and were further troubled when star striker Jenny Garnett was carried off early in the game, after a collision with the Bradford goalkeeper, with a nasty cut to her left ankle.

Appeals for a penalty were turned down by the referee and Bradford began to take control.

They scored once before half-time and went 3-0 up in the second half before York scored a consolation, Tina Reeve scoring with a well-taken penalty after a Bradford defender had handled another menacing Charlie

Woodward corner.

Player of the match was awarded to midfielder Kelly Shepherd as the defeat left City six points off leaders Leeds Development.

City's Reserves also lost their second game in a row, beaten 6-0 at leaders Caistor, who hit four goals in the final 20 minutes.
