York City wing-back Steve Downes will make his playing comeback in this afternoon's reserve clash with Newcastle United at Bootham Crescent (2pm).
Downes has been sidelined with injury since his last first-team appearance during the 2-1 LDV Vans Trophy defeat at Halifax in October.
The game will also give midfielder Christian Fox another 90 minutes under his belt as he presses for a recall and Liam George will be partnered by Gary Browne in attack.
Newcastle's side is one of two reserve teams the club runs but could include players with Premiership experience.
England Under-20 striker Michael Chopra is the biggest name in the Newcastle line-up.
Chopra played in the Champions League for the Magpies last season against Barcelona at the Nou Camp and has figured for the first team four times.
He also spent a month on loan at First Division Watford last season where he played in the FA Cup semi-finals and scored four goals in a 7-4 league victory over Burnley.
York City reserves: Porter, Law, Baines, Fox, Anderson, Davies, Downes, Ashcroft, George, Browne, Stewart. Subs: Staley, Stockdale, McKenzie, Arthur, Kamara.
