However, Nestl Rowntree are not going to relinquish their title without a fight. They showed plenty of battling qualities in their 5-3 victoriy over Acomb WMC 5-3 in which Matty Wain hit a hat-trick.
Adam Durnin was on target twice as Selby Olympia WMC won 6-2 at New Earswick. Strickland also bagged two as Derwent United won 3-1 at Pocklington.
Hinds gave Division Two leaders Blacksmiths Arms a half-time lead against Deramore Arms but a stirring second half performance from the visitors saw them build up a 4-1 lead through Jackson (2), Mullen and Luck and some sterling goalkeeping from Neil Price. Whalen added a late consolation for Blacksmiths.
Wigginton Grasshoppers maintained second spot with a 4-3 win at Five Lions courtesy of goals from Wright (2), Tom Coates and Johnson. Dave Clark scored twice for Five Lions.
Small was on target twice as Bridge Colts came from behind to beat York Nomads 4-2. Gatenby went one better as he notched three for Nestle Flag in a 4-1 win over Shipton, veteran Frank Carlin netting Shipton's goal with a fine diving header.
Thorpe United had a comfortable 3-0 win over Acomb SCD with Tweedie scoring twice.
Goals from Massey, Newbold and Winterburn saw Burnholme SC to a 3-1 win over Fulford in their Division Three clash.
Hemingbrough moved into third place when they came from 2-0 down to snatch a draw with Bishopthorpe with goals from Williams and Harrison.
Allison scored twice as Boot and Slipper won 4-2 at Inland Revenue. Haxby Lions got back to winning ways with a 2-1 win at St Clements WMC, where Drummond and Worden were the scorers.
Barlby Athletic moved back to the top of Division Four with a 6-1 win over Raskelf Rovers with Paul Hughes netting twice.
Hambleton hit top form when they trounced Kings Arms 9-0, Reay netting a hat-trick and Croad bagging two.
Andrew Mulane got the only goal as The Plough won 1-0 at Real Way Station. Charlton, Clay, Patchesa and an own goal accounted for Shoulder of Mutton's goals in their 4-1 win over Beeswing. Heworth came out on top in the battle at the bottom with a 6-0 win at Acomb Celtic, Slater netting twice.
