Tadcaster Albion are facing a major reshuffle at the end of the season after chairman, treasurer and first-team manager Wayne Day's resignation.

Day joined the club seven years ago and has gradually been forced to take on more and more responsibility. But he has finally had enough and handed in his notice leaving the club with three months to draft in new faces to adopt six roles doing everything from coaching to running the bar and getting the kit ready.

He said: "I am resigning every position that I hold at the club from the titled roles of team manager, chairman and treasurer to all the other stuff I do - I really am chief, cook and bottlewasher.

"I really only want to coach and manage and all the other duties are distracting me from what I'm best at."

He added: "They say they will need six people to do all the jobs I have been doing. If one person puts 100 per cent effort into one job, it's going to be significantly better than one person splitting that 100 per cent into six different jobs."

The behind-the-scenes unsettlement has already had a serious effect on the on-pitch performance of the Brewers, who have lost every single game since the move was announced.

But Day is now hoping to gee his side up with the carrot of prospective managers watching the team.

He said: "The message to everybody now is to stop sulking, this is what's going to happen, let's get over it and start picking points up - you never know who will be watching."

The quest for Northern Counties East League division one points continues tomorrow against second-placed Maltby Main with four key players expected to return.

John Impey and Billy Hicks - both injured in the same match five weeks ago - are serious contenders as are Paul James, back from a two-week knee injury, and Steve Batley who is available after work commitments.

Anyone who can help should contact general secretary Howard Clarke on 01937 835017.

Pickering Town will be aiming to continue the form that has shot them to the top of the NCEL premier division form table at second-placed Brigg Town.

Pete Vasey will be back in the squad after coming back from university, and Steve Swales is finally ready to make his Pickering bow after shaking off an injury picked up before he signed. Joe Connor is still suspended after picking up five bookings.

Quiet promotion hopefuls Goole AFC are at home to mid-table Mickleover Sports.

Co-manager Jimmy Reid said: "We have now got 11 games left and we have told the lads that every one is a cup final to us. We have an outside chance of promotion."

Both Danny Farthing and Kevin Graham will be in the squad.

Fire service trainee Damien Henderson will take his place in a fairly full strength Harrogate Railway when they host bottom side Brodsworth Welfare.

Danny Spence and Chris Harrison will also be back after recovering from an illness as boss Martin Haresign vows not to take the relegation favourites lightly.

Out-of-form Selby Town have a chance to re-ignite their premier division promotion hopes with a visit to bottom four Glasshoughton Welfare tomorrow.

Bob Lyon's side have seen their form plummet since Christmas and are still clinging on to the promotion chase in third despite having the third worst record over the last six matches with no wins and just four draws.

Selby drew again on Tuesday night after Joe Gaughan netted twice, while relegation battlers Glasshoughton Welfare played their part in a 4-4 thriller on Wednesday night at Hallam.
