CUP giant-killers Albion Vaults from division six bowed out of the Mecca Trophy quarter-finals, beaten in extra time by third division Fulford.

After a scrappy opening Jon Cox gave Albion the lead but that was wiped out just before half-time by a Matthew Gomm strike.

The second period saw Albion back in front through Lee Ward only for them to sit back, allowing Fulford to poach a second equaliser from Danny Kaye on 85 minutes.

The first period of extra time saw Fulford score two goals in quick succession through Matthew Collins and Ben Wilson.

Albion pulled one back in the second period through Robert Butler but Fulford held on for a 4-3 win.

Rogers, Clay, Farmer and Watkinson scored the goals that booked Shoulder of Mutton's semi-final place with a 4-3 win over third division leaders Hemingbrough for whom Matty Williams bagged all three.

Hambleton kept their hopes of a league and cup double alive with a narrow 2-1 win at The Plough with goals by Farrar and Reay.

Heworth complete the semi-final quartet after they came from behind to beat Wilberfoss 5-2 in extra time.

Honours were even in the division one league clash between Ainsty Panthers and Severus SC.

Tosh Reid put Ainsty in front with a well taken free-kick. Severus SC came out the stronger in the second period and substitute Neil Ducey bagged a brace to go 2-1 up.

But Ainsty refused to cave in and got a deserved equaliser when Shaun Turner nodded home with ten minutes left.

Hounds took advantage of Severus' dropped points to inch closer after a 4-1 win over Acomb WMC.

Jackson hit a hat-trick taking him to 36 goals for the season and Rhodes weighed in with the other to push Acomb closer to the trap door. Gray netted Acomb's response.

Derwent United eased their worries with a 5-0 win over Selby Olympia with goals from Hazell, Cooke, Towse, Bradshaw and an own goal.

Kehoe, Cox, Wash and Jones all got on the scoresheet as Nestl Rowntree beat Pocklington 4-2, Bond and Stabler netting for the visitors.

Thorpe United still harbour hopes of taking the division two title after downing hosts Deramore Arms 3-2 with goals from Wood (2) and Singleton. Triffitt netted in reply.

In division three, Turpin's injury-ravaged term unravelled further, losing 3-2 to Haxby Lions. Slater and Mason got Turpin's goals but Chris Drummond, Ben Drummond and Darren Pugh secured the Lions' win.

St Clements WMC moved up to second when they came from behind to win 2-1 against Boot & Slipper, Noble and Ogleden on target.

In division four, Barlby Athletic took advantage of Hambleton's cup involvement to leapfrog them to the top with a hard-earned 3-2 win over Beeswing, Paul Hughes scoring twice.

Britannia are on course for the division five title after a 3-1 win at Black Swan courtesy of goals from Nicholls, Parsons and Fox.

They were also helped when Selby Olympia Reserves were surprisingly beaten at home by Enterprise, who eased their relegation worries.

Craig Anderson had given the home side a 2-1 half-time lead with both goals to a reply from Chris Banda. Enterprise were the stronger in the second period and goals from Nick Coggan and substitute Adam Cooper ensured all three points.

The surprise result of the day came in division six where runaway leaders Skelton were brought crashing to earth with a 2-1 defeat at Edinburgh Arms, only their second league defeat of the season.

After a goal-less first half Edinburgh Arms took the lead after 70 mins when Colin Farrar curled a shot into the top corner. Neale Holmes levelled from the spot and in a tense finish Joe Vaughan volleyed an ace winner for the Arms in the 88th minute.

The next League meeting is on Thursday, March 25 at New Earswick Bowls Club (8pm).

All clubs to attend. Tickets for the end of season dinner must be bought at this meeting.
