PACK of Cards have moved to the top of the John Smith's Sunday Pool League despite suffering a 5-3 home defeat by Dick Turpin.

A Mark Taylor double for the Pack was not enough as two wins from both Nigel Macdonald and Keith Moult helped Turpin to victory.

Turpin have now claimed the scalps of the top two teams in successive weeks to place them on the fringe of the title race with games in hand.

Burton Stone recovered from 4-2 down to draw against York Health Club thanks to a double from Dean Rogerson and a last frame from Mark Phillips after Rich Kelly had earlier won both his frames.

The recent purple patch from Dringhouses came to an abrupt end with a 6-2 defeat at the hands of visitors Yearsley Grove.

In the battle of the two Crystal Palace teams, the 'B' team came out on top with a stunning 7-1 win aided by doubles from I Smith, M Kelly and C Alfieri.

M Lyons prevented the whitewash with a last-frame win for the 'A' team. Raff Ingriselli's two wins helped Brigadier Gerard to a 5-3 victory at Fox & Hounds.
