BUBBLING New Earswick All Blacks are seeking to round off a fine season with a knockout double.

Already winners of the Accident Cup in which they prevailed over York Groves, the All Blacks now tackle Acorn in the York and District Cup final to be played at Heworth's Elm Park Way head-quarters on May Day Monday.

Ahead of their one-two aim the New Earswick side have just one injury doubt over prop Jamie Daniel.

But returning to the squad are the experiened threesome of Carl Barrow, Jamie Rhodes and Allan Pallister.

Declared coach Simon Baines: "We've trained hard all week and we'll probably get another couple of sesssions in as we are trying for the double."

The District Cup duel kicks off at 11am and all New Earswick players are asked to meet at their base by 9.15am.

Meanwhile, a vastly under-strength North Yorkshire Police rugby league side buckled under the might of their West Yorkshire counterparts 68-6 at New Earswick.

With only 12 players on the field due to operational commitments, North Yorks failed to match the current national Police League title-holders as they went down 48-0 by half-time.

A spirited team talk by NYP captain Nick Smart heralded a better second half performance despite losing Andy Godfrey to a neck injury to reduce them to 11 men.

NYP, made up of mostly union converts, reduced the deficit with a try from Jonny Karadzi, guesting from Humberside Police. That was converted by Guy Wilson and West Yorkshire were restricted to just 20 points in the second half.

North Yorkshire's next game is away to Lancashire at the end of next month.
