Bishopthorpe's dramatic 2-1 Leeper Hare York and District Football League Premier Division home against Rufforth last night means they have escaped relegation at the expense of Nestl Rowntree.
The Bishops needed at least a draw but were trailing to a first half goal before Ben Clarke equalised with 11 minutes remaining and Ian Kettlewell scored the winner with three minutes left.
Haxby reached the final of the Reserve Cup, winning 5 - 2 against Nestl Rowntree. Mike Taylor was involved in creating goals for Ian Ferguson and Graham Gallagher before helping himself to a second half hat-trick.
