PROPOSALS which could see half of new homes in many York developments being designated as "affordable" are to be further considered by councillors.
The leader of City of York Council, Steve Galloway, who was chairing a meeting of its ruling executive yesterday, said some recommendations in a report on affordable housing should be referred to the council's Green Belt Working Group, together with a note of any financial implications for the authority within the context of the emerging Local Plan for the area.
The report, drawn up by the council's housing scrutiny board, called for the percentage of affordable homes in new housing developments to be increased from 25 to 50 per cent.
