I WRITE in reply to the letter from Clive Booth (June 8). This letter only shows the desperation of the Tories and the muddle they are once again in over Europe.
The agenda Michael Howard and the Conservatives have now put forward would put British jobs, British trade and British prosperity at risk. Not one country supports the current Tory position of disengagement and re-negotiation of existing EU treaty obligations.
The only consequence of Michael Howard's position would put British jobs, British trade and British prosperity at risk. Michael Howard would know all about putting British jobs at risk, while he was Employment Secretary in 1990 unemployment increased by over one million.
Only Labour can be trusted to fight for British interests and secure British prosperity.
