York City Knights head to Rams Stadium tomorrow looking to increase the longest winning run throughout the LHF Healthplan National Leagues One and Two.

And if they do complete a 2004 treble over the Rams, having hammered them twice in the Arriva Trains Cup, then they will up their winning sequence to seven games - something York RL has not achieved since the old club did so at the end of the 1984-85 season when they finished third in the old Slalom Lager Division Two to win promotion to the top flight.

However, in-form stand-off Scott Rhodes reckons they will have to be on top of their game to do so as opponents try to knock the Knights off their perch.

"Teams lift their game against us," he told the Evening Press. "There's this thing about the so-called 'big-spending York Knights', which I don't think is quite right, but teams are still out to beat us.

"Dewsbury have made a few changes since we last played them and Dewsbury away on that pitch will always be a hard game."

Rhodes, who forms a deadly half-back combination with fellow ex-Ram Danny Brough - who now tops the National League goal-kicking charts - added: "I was only there briefly but I'm looking forward to going back. The team is playing really well at the moment and we're looking forward to every game."

As for the Knights' run, he said: "Records are there to be broken and it will be a good achievement if we can increase it. We're carrying a few injuries again but we're looking to improve every week."

He added: "We had a big result at Halifax (in the Arriva Trains Cup) but the league is more important to us. If we go to Dewsbury with the same attitude I'm sure we can turn them over."

Leeds loanee hooker Johnny Wainhouse comes in for his debut after recovering from a slight foot problem, while Craig Forsyth can join him on the bench after overcoming Achilles trouble which kept him out last week.

Yusuf Sozi and Simon Friend have both recovered from knocks, but Mick Ramsden and Dan Briggs are again out. Both played for the first time in weeks last Sunday but picked up injuries - Ramsden's ankle has not responded to treatment while Briggs' bad head cut will not be risked.

The Knights will, of course, also be without winger Alex Godfrey, who faces an appeal against a doping suspension. Rhodes added: "We're just carrying on. Alex hasn't played for a few weeks anyway and we're concentrating on our job."
