I UNDERSTAND the Government is considering legalising the cloning of human cells to produce foetuses.

It seems the purpose would be to harvest stem cells from them to treat people with degenerative diseases such as Alzheimers, and then the remainder of the foetus would be disposed of.

This idea seems to me to be completely immoral and unhuman.

A foetus is an immature person.

Under most circumstances our society condemns the killing of human beings, and, while I sympathise with those people and their relatives who suffer from incurable illness, it cannot be right to breed other people for use as spare parts.

Sickness is a part of the human condition, and we devalue ourselves by the idea that we can prey on the unprotected.
