A SELF-CONFESSED crime addict who was banned from York has admitted burgling one of the city's church halls.

Daniel Holmes, 18, hit the headlines last month when he was made the subject of a criminal antisocial behaviour order (CRASBO) by York magistrates.

Yesterday he was in court again, this time at Selby, where he now lives in a hostel for homeless young people.

He admitted stealing £5 in club subscriptions and a box of crisps from St Paul's Church Hall, in Holgate.

Holmes, formerly of Holgate, but now living in Cygnet House, Church Lane, Selby, was told he could face jail for the church hall burglary.

He committed the offence on May 3 - just three weeks before the CRASBO was imposed.

He also admitted driving without insurance, and without a licence or MoT certificate.

Robert Garrie, prosecuting, said one of the trustees at St Paul's Church Hall entered the building at 7.30am to find that doors to locked cupboards had been torn off.

He said the cupboards contained "subs money" collected by the groups.

When the police attended they found that £5 had been stolen, and food taken from the cupboards.

Antony Farrell, mitigating, said there were a number of people involved in the burglary.
