St Luke's 'A' under 13s won the twice-yearly Heslington Inter-Church U13 five-a-side football tournament.
Competing against a field of nine teams from churches across York, the Burton Stone Lane team included the youngest player in the competition, aged seven.
Vicar of St Luke's, the Reverend Dr Steve Benford was inexplicably in Portugal, and so missed the team's moment of victory.
