SUMMER signing Chris Clarke will be the Harrogate Minstermen's guest at their last meeting before the starts of the new season.

Supporters will be able to ask the 6ft 4in defender questions at Knaresborough WMC next Monday (August 9) from 8pm.

The newly-formed Malton Minstermen will also be holding their second meeting on the same night with City's Scottish under-18 international Graeme Law their guest.

Doors open at the Ryedale Indoor Bowls Club in Norton at 7.30pm with Law arriving at 8pm.

There will also be a raffle on the evening and news on forthcoming Malton Minstermen events including a golf day.

The Malton Minstermen and York Minstermen were recently formed and now work alongside established Minstermen groups in the Midlands and London with plans now under way for a North-West branch.

Communications director Sophie McGill said: "The growing contingent of Minstermen supporter groups is great news for York City Football Club. Each branch is working hard to raise funds and galvanise support for the club to assist our push for promotion to the Football League.

"I hope more groups will form over the coming months. The Supporters Trust and the existing Minstermen groups will be happy to lend support setting up a branch if fans are interested."

Malton Minstermen raised £217 at the club's Open Day from their tombola and star player competition.

City's game at Melbourne on Friday night raised £1400 to be split between the host club and their Nationwide Conference guests. City's money will be used to cover a shortfall in juniors' budget for next season.

Leeds United were unable to confirm today what kind of squad they will be sending to Bootham Crescent for tomorrow night's friendly against the Minstermen.

City boss Chris Brass is aiming to field full-strength teams for both the Leeds match and Friday night's home clash against Newcastle United.

He will also be making final decisions over trialists Jonny Rowan and Paul Crichton after both games.

Scarborough held a young Sheffield United XI, which included transfer-listed striker Paul Shaw, to a 1-1 draw.

Harrogate Railway were beaten 1-0 at home by a youthful Scunthorpe United XI, Russell Penn scoring the only goal.

Railway travel to neighbours Harrogate Town on Saturday to contest the John Smiths Trophy at Wetherby Road (3pm).
