ENGLAND Test hero Matthew Hoggard will be the star attraction at Chris Silverwood's benefit match at Woodhouse Grange on Tuesday.

The swing bowler was a key member of Michael Vaughan's side which completed a 'Magnificent Seven' clean sweep of Test victories this summer.

He has easily had his most productive year in international cricket with 38 wickets at 31.65.

Fast bowler Silverwood, fully fit after ankle problems, will captain his Yorkshire side.

England commitments deprive him of England skipper Michael Vaughan and all-rounder Anthony McGrath, while Aussies Darren Lehmann and Ian Harvey are also on international duty. However, attacking Australian batsman Phil Jaques does play.

It is a strong Yorkshire line-up with Matthew Wood, currently captaining the county side in the absence of Craig White, set to open.

The middle order includes Oxford University captain Joe Sayers and Vic Craven.

Sayers featured in the Yorkshire Schools Cup final for St Mary's, Menston, against Woldgate School, Pocklington, eight years ago - the Woldgate squad featuring two Grange players.

Ismail Dawood will keep wicket while Scottish international John Blain, Tim Bresnan and Richard Pyrah will figure as all-rounders.

Former England off-spinner Richard Dawson and Andy Gray, the former Scarborough and Wilberfoss spinner, will provide the slow ball attack.

The action starts at Grange's Sandhill Lane ground with speeches and the toss at 1.30pm and the game half-an-hour later. Entry is £3 for adults and £1.50 for children. Car parking is free.
