WINGER Rob Kama scored a hat-trick of tries on his return to York RUFC in a 47-12 victory over Selby.

The Fijian flier has struggled to make his mark with York City Knights in the rugby league season but looked razor sharp as he cut the Sandhill Lane side to shreds in their pre-season clash.

The match was split into quarters with York storming to a 28-0 lead in the first with Kama scoring a couple of tries and other touchdowns coming from Stuart Davies and Jonathan Kemp. Craig Ventress kicked the remaining points.

Within three minutes of the second quarter, York scrum-half James Arkle went over to give Ventress an easy conversion.

Selby finally opened their account through winger Chris McDonald but Ben Porter missed the conversion.

Kama sliced through poor Selby tackling from inside his own half before touching down underneath the posts leaving Ventress with a simple kick.

Selby responded with an Andy Gabel try, converted by North.

The final quarter was fairly even until York's Kemp scored his second try, Ventress adding the kick.

Meanwhile, a total of 45 players turned out in Nestle Rowntree RUFC's Past v Present match to celebrate 50 years since the club's re-founding.

The Present team won 26-7 but were given a stiff test by the Past squad who performed admirably.

Defences held firm until 35 minutes when Present centre John Atkin raced under the posts for a converted try. Second half tries followed for winger Sean Harvey, full-back Jamie Richardson and veteran prop Bob West. Ivor Jackson converted three.

The Past team were rewarded for their efforts in the final minute when a fine break by Gavin Pender was supported by fly-half Any Whalley, who went under the posts and converted himself.
