AFTER reading the report 'Fishing lake flooding fear', we feel the main concerns of the residents were not clear.

Historically, the level of the north lake was controlled by culverts. One of these linked the two lakes.

This is no longer in use.

The level of the north lake is higher than the south lake, even though there is only a few feet of land between the two. It is the height of the water in the northern lake that we feel is holding up the level of the water table in the surrounding land.

This is happening not only in recent dire weather conditions, but also when the rainfall is normal.

The pipe that was put in is above the culvert. If the culvert were maintained, as it was in the past, we feel the water table would be lower and, when it rained, the ground would be able to absorb some water.
