NEW-LOOK Harrogate, with five players on debut, produced a late surge to salvage a 27-27 draw against Launceston at Claro Road.

With Harrogate trailing 27-13 with ten minutes remaining Matt Challinor became the hero. He surged over from 20 yards and then, in injury time, got on the end of a close-range lineout to crash over. Lee Cholewa kept his composure to slot over the conversion.

Charlie Du Pre had scored for Harrogate inside a minute with Cholewa added the conversion, then a penalty. The Cornish side hit back with tries by Steve Perry and Dave Risdon and after another Cholewa penalty took control with two tries by Marc Dibble.

But Challinor staged his late show and under the new National League Two scoring system, 'Gate picked up two points from the match.
