THE first-ever girls' game of rugby league in York was held when New Earswick All Blacks played Redhill in an under-16 friendly.
This was held as part of New Earswick's gala day and was the first game either team had played. All Blacks easily won with some fine flowing rugby.
Both teams had only been training for a few months and were glad for the chance to test themselves.
Both New Earswick All Blacks and neighbours York Acorn are currently developing girls' teams and are on the lookout for players of any age or experience to add to their training squads with both teams hoping to play several friendly games during the season.
If anyone is interested contact Sharon Johnson at All Blacks on 01904 750103, or Gill Blackburn at Acorn on 330351.
