Tadcaster have taken the IT Sports York Mixed Tennis League division two title with victory over Bubwith in their final game.

Ian Young and Sheila Stuart won 29 games for Tadcaster, just one more than John Rutherford and Lorraine Pearey, with Richard Hayes and Jane Firn also being unbeaten on the night. The defeat condemned Bubwith to relegation.

Wigginton will also return to division one after they also beat Bubwith, who were only able to field two pairs. Wigginton took the second promotion spot on games difference from Castlegarth, with Phil Langley and Danni Baker ending their season as they started by dropping only three games.

Fulford and Poppleton ended their campaign with a hard fought draw in division one. John Moore and Megan Smith were Poppleton's top scorers, with Fulford putting together a superb team performance thanks to Neil Haw and Julie Reilly (19), Nigel Skelton and Jackie Heels (18) and Martin Glassett and Jill McCreedy (17).

Sutton-on-Derwent put together two good wins to save themselves in division three beating York fourths, who were relegated as a result. Paul Swift and Val French won 27 games for Sutton, with Dave Nowell and Sally Simpson scoring 25.

Sutton's final match ended with a 67-41 win against Civil Service, with Paul Colbeck and Helen Wilesmith winning 23 games. They were well supported by Chris Hobson and Sam Lochman.

Pete Sutherland and Jenny Ashley won 30 games for York fourths to seal a 60-48 victory against their third team.

Fulford and Copmanthorpe both played their final division four games on the same night.

Fulford had a tricky looking tie against Wilberfoss and sealed the title with a 70-38 win that was closer than the score line would suggest.

Graeme Butcher and Karen Hornby ended their season for Copmanthorpe by leading their side to the points with 23 games, but could not defeat Dunnington's Nick Holbeck and Linda Molloy.

Despite being relegated, Strensall won their match against Wigginton led by the unbeaten Frankie Adams and Sue Tymon, who were well supported by Mark Howarth and Rochelle Atkinson, with the ever-dependable Matt and Carol Ward putting in another good score.

Nestl had to wait to the last night of the season to confirm that they will lift the division eight trophy with a win against Wilberfoss, who will join them next year. Dave Fenton and Ros Latham won all three for Wilberfoss but Nestl dug deep, led by Clive Christian and Kerry Rafton winning 23 games. They were well backed by Mat Lowery and Fiona Green, who won 19, and Tito Latoja and Sal Harrison.

Division eleven champions Next Generation were the league's highest scoring team, creating a record for games won - 1,109 - and they also had the week's top scorers in Ed Barker-Wyatt and Zoe Green with 34 games in their 85-23 win against Wigginton.

Fulford will join Next Generation as they have finished runners-up after winning their last fixture against Wheldrake in a rain affected match, but managed to win enough games to take the points and promotion before the heavens opened.

All matches conceded have now had their games added and points deducted.

The final of the Graham Wykes Handicap trophy was won by Dunnington 'A', who beat their 'B' team.
