SOLICITOR Andrew Lindsay is the new president of the York and North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce.
Mr Lindsay, 46, who succeeds HSBC banker Mark Vines, is head of the corporate and commercial department of Denison Till of York.
At the chamber's annual meeting at the Royal York Hotel, Piers Shepherd, of the Shepherd Group, stepped down as co-opted director after ten years.
For the first time, a Scarborough director has been appointed - Mark Husler, chief executive of NYMAC - the North Yorkshire Moors and Coast Business Advice Agency.
David Tysall, managing director of Response Marketing of York, and Dr Gareth Lloyd-Jones, managing director of Smith and Nephew at York, who is non-executive chairman of Science City York, were both re-elected.
