TRADE mark specialist Carin Burchell, from York-based Carin Burchell Trade Mark Services, will be taking part in a branding and PR workshop next Wednesday to give local businesses an insight into how to protect their brand and maximise PR opportunities.

The session, jointly organised with former Sky TV and BBC reporter Sharon Cain, from Quest PR, is being hosted by Business In The Community (BITC) at its new North Yorkshire headquarters at Princess Square, Harrogate.

This is the second workshop in recent months spearheaded by BITC - the nationwide charity committed to promoting responsible business practice and encouraging firms to make a difference.

Its North Yorkshire membership has increased at 33 per cent year-on-year over the last three years and now stands at 70.

Zandra Utley, North Yorkshire business adviser, said: "The workshops are an ideal vehicle for our member companies and community groups to pick up valuable tips on how to register their trade marks and find out why they are a valuable asset. We will also be giving attendees an insight into the media and help them to identify positive stories to raise their profile and help achieve their marketing goals."
