THAT Martin Bailey is now where he deserves to be, behind bars, is thanks in large part to taxi driver Darren Atkins.
Like all our readers, Mr Atkins was horrified to read the Evening Press report describing how a man slashed the face of a teenage girl in Museum Gardens.
Then he spotted a man matching the description of the attacker and alerted police.
They arrested violent drug addict Bailey, and today he begins a five year jail sentence.
This proves that a partnership between the press, the police and public spirited people can defeat the criminals.
