I WAS interested to read of chief reporter Mike Laycock's experience of parking in Chester.
I was recently in Chichester, Sussex, where I parked in a very large car park in the city centre which cost £2 for all-day parking.
It was good to feel motorists were welcome and, of course, the city shops were very busy.
I was disgusted at a recent Bank Holiday to read the electronic sign as you approached York from Copmanthorpe.
Instead of displaying "Welcome to York - enjoy your visit" which means we hope you spend a lot of money to help our economy, the sign actually showed: "Warning - parking restrictions apply on all city centre streets", which means we don't want you here, please go somewhere else.
