CLIFTON 'A' made a fine start to the John Smith's Sunday Pool League with a 7-1 victory over their 'B' team.
Doubles from Chris Wilbraham (including a seven-ball game), Jamie Mitchell and Mark Horsman put the 'A' team in control. The only reply came form M Innes.
Last year's runners-up Dick Turpin had to be content with a 4-4 draw with the Mitre. Raff Ingriselli won both his frames on his debut for Mitre but two wins from Nigel Macdonald for Turpin looked to have given them victory until Jeff Hinds won the last frame to claim the draw.
Fox & Hounds, with doubles from A Green, C Green and I Pearce, secured a great win against Crystal Palace 'A' ,whose M Lyon saved the whitewash.
Tang Hall and Dringhouses fought out a 4-4 draw and Crystal Palace 'B' beat York Health Club 5-3 thanks to two wins apiece for A Shepherd and S Hay.
